Which raw materials make pellets?
Every raw material needs the right preparation and choice of machines. We have tested nine raw materials on our own lines.

Sawdust
The most common raw material in sawmills and joineries. Fine, dusty sawdust goes straight into the granulator without grinding.

Wood chips
Chips from a wood chipper must be ground to sawdust size and almost always dried.

Mixed wood
Waste from pallet, furniture and packaging production, often with bark and varying moisture.

Oak
Hardwood makes dense, heavy pellets but puts more load on the die than pine.

Straw
The raw material of grain farms above 100 ha. Bales need grinding; drying is usually not necessary.

Manure
Pellets from horse, cattle or poultry manure are an organic fertiliser sold in bags.

Spent mushroom substrate
Spent substrate from mushroom farms is either a disposal problem or a raw material for fertiliser pellets.

Sheep wool
Low-grade wool that industry does not buy is pelletised as garden fertiliser.

Stale bread
Returns from bakeries and retail chains become feed or fuel pellets.
What pellets are used for
It's not only wood. Our lines also shred and pelletise paper and bark.
Pellets made from manure, compost and plant residues are a natural fertiliser that is easy to dose and improves soil structure.
Pelletising reduces the volume of biodegradable and municipal waste and makes it easier to store, transport and reuse.
Wood or straw pellets are absorbent and hygienic. Once used, they can go on the field as fertiliser.
Pelleted feed is easier to store and dose, and the process improves digestibility.
Pellets are a renewable solid fuel. They burn cleanly and leave little ash.
Pelletising is also used for spices, herbs and supplements to standardise the dose and simplify storage.
Test your raw material before choosing a line
Send a sample and see what pellets we can make from it. We test the material on our pellet mills and give you recommendations on the die and the choice of machines.
- You fill in the request, we call back and agree how much material to send (usually 2 to 3 bags).
- We pelletise it on the test line in Sieradz; you are welcome to watch.
- You receive a pellet sample and a report with a recommended die and line set-up.
